Brand building in a digital world requires a multiplane camera

I was scrolling through Instagram and came across a post by History Photographed. I think it’s a perfect analogy for brand building in a 2D world. AKA, most DTC brands.

As you can see, the multiplane camera zoom effect is more compelling.

Now, ask yourself, how many layers does your brand have? How rich/engaging are they? 

Some of the layers that you can use:

  • Your product 
  • Your website (no-brainer, this should be the layer furthest from the camera) 
  • Your paid ads (visual/audio platforms)
    • Meta 
    • YouTube 
    • TikTok
    • TV/Streaming 
  • Email and SMS 
  • Your creator and influencer campaigns 
  • Your user-generated content 
  • Your PR and Affiliate publications 
  • Your copy and tone of voice 
  • Your customer service team 

The most important question you should ask yourself is, are they speaking together (visuals and copy) to shape a cohesive world? Those are the questions you should be asking.
